The Glowbalm Ritual: Skincare as a Moment of Calm
Country Cottage Bathroom with Second Spring Glowbalm on a shelf.
In a culture that often encourages more — more steps, more products, more urgency — we believe skincare can be something quieter.
At 100 Years Botanicals, we’re inspired by the idea that skincare is not just about the skin, but about ritual, intention, and care. A moment to slow down, soften the pace, and reconnect — even briefly.
Our Glow Balm was created with this philosophy in mind.
Why a Balm?
Balms are one of the oldest forms of skincare.
Before lotions and serums, there were oils and butters — used sparingly, warmed by the hands, and applied with care.
A glow balm is not about quick absorption or instant transformation. Instead, it offers:
comfort
nourishment
protection
a soft, natural radiance
It’s a product designed to be used slowly and intentionally, morning or evening.
A Simple Glow Balm Ritual
This is not a strict routine — simply a guide you can return to whenever you need grounding.
Begin with warm, clean skin.
In the morning, apply to freshly cleansed skin. In the evening, use after a bath or shower while the skin is still slightly damp. This helps the balm glide easily and feel more nourishing. I always pop some meditation music on after my bath while I massage the balm into my skin; it’s amazing how relaxing it makes me feel.
Warm the balm.
Take a small amount of Glow Balm and warm it between your fingertips or palms. As it softens, take a moment to notice the texture and natural aroma.
Create a ritual moment.
In the morning, take a few slow breaths and gently press the balm into the skin to awaken and protect.
In the evening, if you’d like a deeper ritual, put on soft, relaxing meditation music, close your eyes, and massage the balm into the skin using slow, unhurried movements.
Let this moment belong only to you.
Listening to the Skin
Skin is not static.
Its needs shift with the seasons, environment, and pace of life. Balm-based skincare encourages a more intuitive approach — using less, adjusting gently, and responding rather than correcting.
Some days may call for more glow, others for simplicity.
What’s Next
As our rituals evolve, so do our offerings.
A lightweight eye oil — designed to complement the Glow Balm — will be joining the collection soon, offering an additional moment of care for the delicate eye area.
Until then, the Glow Balm remains a grounding constant — versatile, comforting, and deeply rooted in tradition.
A Slower Approach to Beauty
We believe skincare should feel:
thoughtful, not overwhelming
nourishing, not performative
rooted in tradition, yet suited to modern life
Glow, in our eyes, begins with presence.
If this resonates, the Second Spring Glow Balm was created as a small, daily ritual - you can explore it here.
